ACUPUNCTURE
In the UK, acupuncture for animals is an act of Veterinary Surgery and can only legally be performed by Veterinary Surgeons. It involves the use of very fine sterile needles inserted into specific areas of the body. For the needle shy we can offer stimulation of acupuncture points with low level laser therapy.
Acupuncture can be useful in the management of chronic pain for example in arthritis, by increasing the body's release of natural painkillers.
Jane White, one of our vets here at St Boniface has completed the ABVA Foundation Course in Acupuncture - A Western Scientific Approach.
