July 2012 - OPEN DAY SUCCESS

Our 1st ever Open day was a phenomenal success, more than 300 people turned up on Sunday 8th July helping us to raise an amazing £180 for the Devon Air Ambulance.

There was plenty to see and do with our vets and nurses giving tours of the new building.  These proved to be very popular with people keen to see what happens behind the scenes.  We had a hog roast that was very much enjoyed by all.

Tea, coffee and cake were provided upstairs with a raffle and a chance to speak to Kirsty and Fiona who showcase their amazing work on the walls of the waiting and consult room.

There was face painting for the children and paw printing for our four legged friends.  Some more keener than others! The dogs that participaited in this will eventually have their efforts displayed as a mural on the wall in the practice.

Visitors were able to see our hydrotheraphy room and demonstrations of what is involved in this treatment. Not forgetting the 'bug hunt' for everyone who wanted to take part and be entered into winning a prize.

The day was such a great success and enjoyed by all.  We would like to thank everyone who came to support us on the day.

 PETS MAKE A MARK

To celebrate our move into new premises on Exeter Road all local pet owners are invited to participate in a unique pet paw print mural.
If you would like to record your pet’s paw, hoof or claw, print in the mural which will be on display for years to come, we have the following suggestions;
·         You will know your pet’s temperament better than anyone. It’s important to only make the paw print if you think they will enjoy the proceedings and not become stressed by the experience.
·         Paint the paw (hoof or claw) lightly with child-friendly poster paint before firmly placing on a sheet of plain white A4 paper.
·         Ideally do this outside and have a bowl of warm water to hand to wash the paw as quickly as possible afterwards to avoid a paw print mural across your lounge room carpet!
Once dry, write the name of the pet underneath the print and send submissions direct to the practice or drop them in at reception.
Paw prints can be submitted throughout the summer and the final artwork is expected to be revealed later in the year.
