SWHLI(The Healthy Livestock Iniative)                  South West Healthy Animal Initiative logo

 The Healthy Livestock project will focus on controlling the incidence of mastitis, lameness, BVD, Johnes Disease and respiratory diseases in cattle and lameness, nutrition, breeding and parasite control in sheep, by providing part-funding towards vet and advisers consultations, diagnostic tests, farmer discussion groups and a programme of training events.

FARM SKILLS TRAINING

Look out for farm skills training. We are committed to the ongoing development of skills within the agricultural sector. We provide regular training days many of which result in LANTRA awards for participants.

Lambing course – Ruth will be running a lambing course on 8th December, aimed at people new to lambing and sheep keeping but also a refresher for the more experienced. We’ll cover preparation for lambing, dealing with weak lambs, and problems you may encounter as well as giving you a chance to practice assisting a ewe with a difficult lambing.
